50th anniversary and inauguration of new sorting plant

Elbe-Obst goes for an efficient and innovative future

Elbe-Obst has celebrated its golden anniversary with great interest from regional fruit-growing and high-ranking representatives of the industry. Both the Lower Saxony Minister of Agriculture and the chairman of the regional section for fruit production praised Elbe-Obst as a pioneer at the regional, national and even international levels. At the same time, around 700 visitors visited the modernized and upgraded sorting station at the Hollern-Twielenfleth location.

Many reasons to celebrate
Chairman Hans-Herbert zum Felde gave the starting signal of the official part with a detailed lecture about the eventful history of the company. After that, the Lower Saxony Minister of Agriculture Barbara Otte-Kinast came on stage. She emphasized the peculiarity of a golden jubilee regarding the current zeitgeist and the rapidly changing circumstances of the international fruit industry. With the simultaneous commissioning of the new sorting facility, the Minister of Agriculture stated that Elbe-Obst certainly has every reason to celebrate.

Continuous efficiency
In addition, Otte-Kinast praised the continuous performance and high quality of the products from the Alten Land production area (to the west of Hamburg). "The constant ability to innovate is an essential part of the success story, which should secure the future of fruit-growing in this region, and I hope we will see our next big anniversary in 25 years," the Minister of Agriculture concluded.

Jens Stechmann, Chairman of the Lower Saxony Section for Pomology

(Supra)regional pioneer
Jens Stechmann, chairman of the Niedersaksische Obstgruppe, also praised the pioneering role which Elbe-Obst has fulfilled for decades. "Openness, trust and transparency characterize the company's employees," said the official. In the course of the years, Elbe-Obst has made a good name for itself, regionally as well as nationally. "The future-oriented strategy of the Elbe fruit benefits both producers and the entire production area."

Inauguration of the sorting station
This anniversary was also an excellent opportunity to symbolically inaugurate the new sorting and packaging station. The entire station was modernized to a total of 8 million euros and it had its capacity expanded. The entire plant produces 30,000 tons of fruit per hour and has two pear and apple sorting lines. The rest of the evening was celebrated with a barbecue, music and a corresponding Elbe-Obst song, and there were much discussions on current topics in the fruit industry.
