"Spain: Start of lime campaign "with unbeatable prospects"

The Spanish lime campaign is kicking off with unbeatable prospects for a season with good volumes, premium quality and exceptional sales.

Isla Bonita, the tropical and exotic fruits brand of Grupo Eurobanan, has started harvesting and distributing its Spanish limes this week. During the campaign, which will last until October, the total volume of limes grown in the south east of the Peninsula is expected to oscillate between 500,000 and 700,000 kilos. This year, the domestic limes to be marketed under the Isla Bonita brand have developed under good weather conditions, and this has resulted in fruit with a strong aroma, acidulated flavour, a lot of juice and a perfect balance between sourness and sweetness. The limes that will hit the shelves of the best fruit stores and supermarkets belong to the Tahiti variety and are the result of an exhaustive cultivation process monitored by experts with more than 30 years of experience in the sector. This fruit undergoes strict controls in order to ensure high quality and food safety standards, so that the consumer can enjoy the best limes in the market.

The consumption of limes during the summer period is approximately 45% greater than in the rest of the year thanks to the high number of cocktails and recipes that contain lime juice. The current boom in the restaurant sector, as well as the high interest in fusion cuisine, explain the success of this fruit, increasingly popular for its use in hundreds of recipes, such as ceviche, guacamole, sauces, etc., both in restaurants and consumers' homes.
