2018 will be a year of record figures for the entire foreign trade sector, thanks to the increase in shipments of non-traditional products from the agricultural and fishing sectors, which will amount to more than 13 billion dollars this year, stated Luis Torres, the director of PromPeru.
"Five products are going to lead this year's exports and their export will reach a record 4 billion dollars. We expect that total exports will amount to more than 13 billion dollars this year," he said.
Blueberry, which has already replaced asparagus as the main non-traditional agricultural export product, will be the big star. "This year, blueberry exports would amount to nearly 580 million dollars, i.e. 60% more than last year," he said.
Hass avocado exports, are projected to grow by 10% over the last year, totalling 870 million dollars at the end of 2018. Grape exports are expected to reach 750 million dollars; mango exports would grow by 40% and amount to US $270 million, and asparagus exports would amount to 430 million dollars.
