Lower Austria:

Scarce onion supply, carrot market remains stable

The Austrian onion market is showing its stable side. The marketing of winter onions is practically completed. The remaining quantities are in high demand, both domestically and through exports. Producer prices remained stable for the most part, in some cases rising a little. For onions of the new harvest, cleaned and sorted in a crate, 28 to 32 euros per 100 kg were last paid, depending on quality and size. The first summer bulbs are expected next week. These quantities should also remain quite manageable.

The Lower Austrian carrot market is stable and unchanged from last week. A manageable range of domestic early carrots meets the rather quiet demand (due to holidays). The available quantities are sold primarily in local food retailing, at stable prices. Producer prices remained stable at last week's levels.
