New team member and a promotion for SunFed

SunFed® is announcing the promotion of Juan Carlos (JC) Barrionuevo to the company’s sales team in Rio Rico, Arizona. Barrionuevo brings six years of experience to his new role in sales, having previously been a part of SunFed’s warehousing team as the Facility Director in Texas.

“We are very excited to welcome JC to his new role at the company. He has proven to be a valuable and indispensable team member both here in Arizona as well as in Texas, and his experience has prepared him well for the challenges ahead,” Matt Mandel, SunFed’s Vice President of Operations says. “We are all 110 percent behind JC and are looking forward to watching him succeed and grow in his new role.”

With JC’s departure from his previously held role of Facility Director in Texas, SunFed sought to find someone who was experienced, not only in inbound/outbound logistics, but in all the ancillary processes SunFed is involved with. These areas include Quality Control, Transportation, Packaging, Repack, and In/Out services. With this in mind, SunFed is announcing another evolution in the team’s development with the hire of Gil Renteria as the company’s new General Manager in Texas.

“We are very fortunate to have Gil joining us as he will bring a wealth of industry knowledge in both the Arizona and Texas markets. Having worked at some very notable companies over the years including The Produce Exchange, Ciruli Brothers, CMMV and Amex Distributing, we look forward to Gil's great understanding of our business,” Mandel shares. “Having known him for over ten years, I am confident that he will integrate smoothly and help us all in our mission to deliver on the promise of Perfect Produce.”

Over the next four to six weeks, Renteria will be learning the ins and outs of the SunFed way and help to position the company for success as JC transitions to his new role. He will also be working very closely with Andre Escobar to help SunFed expand the operation’s “Texas Grown” program in both growers and commodities.
