From 1 July: toll on German Bundesstrassen

In just under two weeks, freight traffic will also be tolled on the Bundesstrassen. This measure for the German provincial roads will come into effect on 1 July. The fee will apply to 50.000 km of Bundesstrassen. This is almost the entire network.

This means that trucks with a maximum permitted mass of 7,5 tonnes and more will pay tolls on B roads. This is in addition to the charge that is already levied on the country's motorways. This measure has consequences for many Dutch transport companies. Especially for those companies who transport a lot of goods in neighbouring Germany. They can no longer avoid paying tolls by bypassing the motorways. They will now also have to install toll boxes in their vehicles.

The existing Autobahn tariffs will apply to the Bundesstrassen (see Germany's country information). From 1 January 2019, new toll tariffs will apply on German roads.
