Yunnan onions began to gradually arrive on the market when the new year began. The new supply from Henan and Jiangsu will arrive this month, while the supply from Yunnan and Sichuan will enter its last stage. Henan has increased the surface area devoted to onion production by 667 hectares, while Feng County in Jiangsu has decreased its onion plantations by twice as much. This means that the overall onion supply will decrease in May in comparison with the same month last year. Onion prices are therefore likely to increase slightly.
