Mexico’s avocado prepares for Cinco de Mayo

"Cinco de Mayo is the most important celebration of our Mexican brothers living in the US and the second largest sales date for our avocado," stated Avocados From Mexico, which is preparing its Cinco Delicioso (Delicious Cinco) campaign.

As part of this effort, the retail promotion will be designed to inspire buyers and increase avocado consumption in Mexico, focusing on guacamole for Cinco de Mayo parties or meetings. AFM has also associated, for the third consecutive year, with Salsas Tabasco to expand the flavor in its guacamole for buyers and retailers.

"Cinco De Mayo boosts consumption of Mexican food in the US, and avocados are an important food in this celebration," said Maggie Bezart-Hall, the vice president of Commerce and Promotion. "We are very pleased to be part of these celebrations and to bring the festivities to our retailers through the Cinco Delicioso program with impressive marketing and a variety of pre-purchase tactics. This program will boost sales and encourage fans to consume avocados from Mexico and Salsas Tabasco."

The Cinco Delicioso program is scheduled for April 2 to May 5. It will be an integrated marketing campaign that will reach the buyers of Avocados from Mexico. It will also have free ripening bags that will include educational tips and recipes.

AFM is making it easier for retailers to promote the campaign with flashy in-store displays to highlight the celebration and capture shoppers' attention. The campaign also includes displays in stores and points of sale, personalized signs, ripening bags, and chopped paper.

Consumers can also take advantage of this season's great savings with coupons. Through Coupons.com, buyers can save a dollar when they buy any Tabasco sauce and two avocados from Mexico.

In an effort to inspire shoppers to buy avocados from Mexico for their parties, the campaign also includes a Cinco Delicioso website and an extensive social media program.

Users can also watch several AFM and Tabasco Salsas videos of guacamole recipes and discover the AvoGuru integration, a five-step Chatbot for users with videos, recipes, and coupons. Each video will also be accompanied by an easily accessible shopping list, which provides a quick, simple, and delicious experience.

To help with the promotion, AFM will run these recipe videos as publications on their popular social media platforms to increase purchase decisions. The new recipe videos will be practical, incorporate Tabasco as an ingredient to improve the flavor of the food, and emphasize a stronger creative bond with Mexico: fun, vibrant, and ready for a Cinco Delicioso.

In addition, AFM has established a reorientation function that sends a version of the publication with an offer directly to users who have seen the recipe's publications, in an effort to address an audience that has already had an active interest in the content.
