Main destination of Italian produce exports

During the 69th national Fruitimprese assembly, data on Italian and European import-exports were discussed. Below are some diagrams on the main foreign destinations for apples, pears, table grapes, kiwis, oranges, peaches and nectarines, apricots, cherries, strawberries, table tomatoes and potatoes.

In 2017, the main product exported by Italy in terms of volume were apples with 974,697 tons, followed by table grapes (498,175 tons), kiwis (321,228 tons), peaches and nectarines (222,194 tons), pears (140,043 tons), potatoes (122,506 tons), oranges (110,205 tons), table tomatoes (66,493 tons), apricots (44,579 tons), strawberries (15,457 tons) and cherries (12,588 tons, but with a value of €45 million, exceeding the turnover of strawberries and only slightly below that of apricots).

The diagrams below show the predominant role of Germany as a destination, a sign that Italy must diversify its destination countries. The incidence only drops in the case of kiwis, table grapes, oranges, apples and potatoes while it's predominant for tomatoes, cherries, strawberries and apricots.
