Seeded goods are nowadays found less and less often on German supermarket shelves, and the same goes for other parts of Western Europe. The trend towards seedless varieties can also be seen in Eastern Europe, although the retailer chains in Eastern Europe also rely on grapes with seeds, especially Red Globe, as is confirmed by buyers and sellers of the Anton Dürbeck GmbH out of Bad Homburg. “In the export sector, we mainly supply supermarkets in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary: we continue to see great demand for the Red Globe variety there. We also see the popularity of seeded varieties in large calibres among other customers in Eastern Europe, although we should not forget that the trend towards seedless varieties is also going on in these countries.”
Fourth generation
The Anton Dürbeck company, which is currently managed by its third and fourth generation, now looks back on more than 100 years of a successful corporate tradition. Over the years, the trading company has specialized in the import of fresh fruit from all over the world and supplies bananas, grapes and pineapples to retail chains in Germany and neighboring countries.
