More Mexican products in negotiations to access South Korea

Grape table, avocado, mango, squash, grapefruit, Orange, lime, papaya, tomato, green coffee, walnut and chilli are some of the Mexican products in the negotiation to achieve an imminent entry into the Korean market.

The health authorities of the Busan-Jinhae Free Trade Zone, in South Korea, visited Mexico to get to know the country's sanitary infrastructure to increase the participation of Mexican products in the markets of the Asia-Pacific region, mainly in Korea.

The Korean delegation toured plantain plantations in the state of Tabasco and avocado plantations in Jalisco. They also visited the port of Manzanillo, in Colima, to verify the quality and health of the Mexican products and the agro-logistic infrastructure of the Latin American country.

According to reports, the mission of Asian officials and businessmen plans to promote agro-logistic schemes, detonate joint ventures in the agri-food sector between both countries and explore the productive, quality, and safety potential of Mexican products.

The commissioner of the authority of the Busan-Jinhae Free Trade Zone, Yang Hyun Jin, noted that Mexico's investment in agro-logistics infrastructure and the quality and safety of its agricultural products, which meet sanitary criteria worldwide, make it feasible to expand exports to South Korea.

Currently, the Korean market receives five Mexican vegetable and livestock products. Mexican authorities stated that "table grapes, avocado from Jalisco, mango, pumpkin, kabocha, grapefruit, orange, lime, papaya, tomato, green coffee, chilli, walnuts and bovine products were about to be authorized."
