BILLA Start-up Pitch:

BILLA promotes innovative projects in the food trade

"As an innovation leader in the Austrian food trade, we are always on the lookout for new ideas, good solutions and outstanding products. Our motivation is always the same: we want to make life easier for our customers," explains BILLA CEO Robert Nagele.

Now BILLA invites you to the BILLA Start-up Pitch. We are looking for innovative retailing solutions and services as well as new food products and in-store and business solutions.

Live pitch in front of top-class jury at the 4GameChangers Festival
The three-stage selection process will culminate in the 4GameChangers Festival from 18 to 20 April 2018, where a top-class jury will be present, as start-ups pitch their ideas live. In addition to BILLA Executive Spokesman Robert Nagele and Director Digital & Innovations Julia Stone, well-known representatives from the start-up industry will also be among the jurors. For example, BILLA was able to include in the jury Heinrich Prokop, Director and Founding Partner of Clever Clover and Michael Goblirsch, Partner of Squareonefoods. "We sincerely hope that all those people who, like us, are dealing with the retail solutions of the future, have a passion for food and feel for the future of retail, will register and participate in our start-up pitch," says BILLA CEO Elke Wilgmann.

All-round supply of households is central
All these presentations before the top decision-makers of the largest Austrian grocery retailers do not only result in valuable feedback. The finalists also have the option of a national listing of their products at BILLA or the implementation of their retail solution in almost 1,070 BILLA stores and the BILLA Online Shop.

"Start-ups are important drivers when it comes to new solutions, different approaches and agility. For BILLA, this community is an essential source of innovation, and we hereby invite all enthusiastic people to work together with Austria's largest supermarket on new products and retail solutions for our customers. We at BILLA are open to all solutions and ideas that support our goal of supplying all households better than ever," explains Julia Stone, Director Digital & Innovations at BILLA.

Participating start-ups are invited to the first step of a three-step process whereby innovations from the food or retail sectors must be submitted to startup@billa.at by 4 April. Subsequently, the submissions will be examined by a jury. In the second competition phase, BILLA invites the selected start-ups to the BILLA Pitch Corner for the 4GameChangers Festival, where they will present their ideas in two-minute pitches. All those who make it into the third and final round will be invited to the BILLA headquarters for in-depth discussions and negotiations.
