Try eating more pears

This fruit could prevent the symptoms and pain of piles

Piles, also known as haemorrhoid is an uncomfortable condition that usually affects adults between the ages 45 to 65. It usually develops when the tissue around the anus or rectum becomes swollen. Possible causes are straining during bowel movements or sitting for long periods of time on the toilet.

There is medicine available to relieve and swelling and discomfort, but a simple diet change might be sufficient.

Express.co.uk reports how one can increase the amount of fibre in their diet, according to the NHS; eating fruits such as pears. Adding fibre to a diet is the universal recommendation of both family doctors and gastroenterologists. You should aim to get 25 to 30 grams of fibre per day.

Apart from pears, other great food sources of fibre include:

• Legumes, such as split peas, lentils, black beans, lima beans, and baked beans
• Whole grains, such as barley, bran flakes, oatmeal, and brown rice
• Vegetables, such as artichoke, green peas, broccoli, and Brussels sprouts
• Fruits, such as raspberries, apples and bananas
