Drivers woken up by Minister

Earlier in the week, Cora van Nieuwenhuizen, the Dutch Minister of Infrastructure and Public Works visited the Den Hoek truck stop along the A16. She woke sleeping truck drivers up, giving them leaflets about the ban on spending mandatory weekend rests in the cabs of their trucks. Especially Eastern European drivers, who were not yet aware of this. This initiative was driven by the Transport and Living conditions Inspectorate.

If found to be in violation of this ban, employees can be fined EUR1 500. It is being enforced from next month onwards.
