Italy: No 1 EU trade partner for Iran

According to the latest Eurostat data shared with the Financial Tribune, Italy was Iran's biggest EU trade partner during the first nine months of 2017. Bilateral trade reached 3.45 billion euros.

Italy also tops the list of Iran’s biggest EU export destinations, as it imported 2.2 billion euros worth of Iranian commodities during the same period. France and Germany were Iran's second and third biggest EU trade partners. The Netherlands occupy the number 5 spot, with 1.15 billion euros worth of trade with the Islamic Republic.

Top Traded Commodities
Iran's main exported commodities to the EU include mineral fuels, mineral oils, bituminous substances and mineral waxes. Other major exports include fruit, nuts and zest of citrus fruits (161.1 euros), iron and steel (145.1 million euros), plastics and plastic products (111 million euros) and coffee, tea, coffee-mate and spices (41.6 million euros).
