Zambia: Further collaboration needed for food security

According to Agriculture Minister, Dora Siliya, Zambia is seeking further collaboration to ensure Food Security, on behalf of the Africa Group. The Minister said this when she delivered her speech at the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) 158th Council Meeting in Rome on Wednesday.

Zambia Reports quoted Siliya as saying: “…further collaboration is needed in important priorities such as nutrition, climate change, resilience building and the promotion of South-South cooperation.” The minister emphasised that the outlined priorities should be in line with Africa’s own policies and strategies in order to address current challenges. These include pests and diseases, inadequate irrigation infrastructure and adaptation to impacts of climate change in the respective countries.
