Moroccan potato, onion and tomato prices proving higher than government forecasts
According to Morocco World News, shoppers in Morocco are seeing much higher vegetable prices than those published by the Ministry of Agriculture, which predicted more affordable prices. Prices for common household foods like tomatoes, potatoes, onions, carrots and turnips have increased. A kilo of potatoes and onions now cost US $0.64, carrots and turnips US $0.74 and tomatoes around US $0.84. According to Moroccan Daily's Al Ahdath, the increase is largely due to a 15-35% increase in transport costs.
