Today is the start of the Horti China exhibition in Shanghai, jointly organised by the VNU, Hi Fresh and MAC Frut.
The hall in which it takes place is divided into two. On one side you can find Chinese and international horticulture suppliers invited by the VNA and MAC Frut. On the other side are mainly Chinese fruit growers, traders and suppliers to the industry, mainly invited by the Chinese organiser Hi Fresh.

The horticulture part is relatively international, with a number of companies from the Netherlands as well as other European countries. For them, this is their first year in Shanghai.
A number of foreign fruit growers and exporters have travelled down to Shanghai, mainly from Italy and Spain. The largest part of the hall is filled with Chinese fruit growers, suppliers and traders. Companies from all layers of the industry are present. For Hi Fresh, this is the 10th year they have organised the event and they have gathered a large following in China.

During the day, a number of meetings and conferences were held. One could learn about the Italian fruit industry as well as witness some new developments in horticulture at the Horticulture Innovation Forum.
Feedback from exhibitors was positive. People seemed pleased with the number of visitors, as well as with the number and variety of exhibitors. The aisles were filled with visitors.

Some people, however, expressed concern that the exhibition space in China has become very competitive, with many (new) events held throughout the year. This is forcing companies and visitors to divide their time and focus across the different events.
