From the spring of 2018 onwards one truck, running on natural gas, will be on the road for the respective divisions of in Butzbach, Ebersberg, Aichtal and Langenfeld. The new technology will thus be tested in the vicinity of Frankfurt, Munich, Stuttgart and Dusseldorf. In the summer an electric truck will start its testing; it will be used in Mülheim an der Ruhr and its surrounding areas.
"With this test ALDI SÜD consistently pursues its climate protection policy and shows its commitment to reducing CO2 emissions in-house," says Andreas Kremer, Head of Logistics Management at ALDI SÜD. After all, climate protection plays a key role in ALDI SÜD’s sustainability programs, which are an integral part of its corporate responsibility principles (CR principles). Based on these principles, the Group has also been carbon neutral since the beginning of 2017. For many years now, it has relied on state-of-the-art technology and optimal route planning in branch logistics in order to permanently reduce the fuel consumption of its vehicles.
