LBD expands with new packaging line and top sealer

Three years ago, LBP Rotterdam was one of the first businesses in the sector that had a packaging line for blueberries. The increasing demand in the market, has resulted in this logistical service provider from Maasdijk, recently acquiring a top seal machine. "This means our clients can seal their punnets with a layer of plastic. It is not only consumer friendly, but it is also a better option when it comes to food safety. The top sealer is a welcome addition to meet the demand that is, no doubt, going to increase in the coming years", says Anton Filippo.

"We have followed this development in England over the past few years. Now, this is being demanded in the Dutch, and part of the German, retail sector. It was time to take the next step", continues Anton. "The acquisition of the top seal machine, which is also a heat sealer, does not replace traditional punnet packaging. This is still being done."

LBP has also ordered a multi-functional packaging line, which will be installed at the beginning of December. This line primarily packages grapes in punnets. It is, however, also very useful for other types of packaging. The new line will also, eventually, include a top sealer in order to meet demand.
