US Northwest saw increased apple volumes but JUICI apple supply limited

According to Bruce Turner, National Marketing Representative at Oneonta Starr Ranch Growers, 2017’s excellent growing conditions in the Northwest brought additional volume and a wider distribution of apples this season.

“We experienced a later harvest this year, and the JUICI has come in with good color and good flavour,” Turner said. He added that although volume is increased for 2017, supplies of JUICI are still limited. “New plantings are yet to come into production, but we are expecting a full season of availability by 2019.”

The JUICI apple will be headed to this year’s PMA Fresh Summit in New Orleans. Oneonta Starr Ranch will also be introducing new organic packaging and its new line of Organic Red and Green Anjous, Bartletts and Boscs pears from Fruit Growers.

“We’ll also be featuring our domestic KORU apples, from New Zealand that are now grown in Washington,” he said.

Oneonta Starr Ranch will be present at the show at booth 429 running from October 20-21.
