China: First export of Zhejiang kiwifruits

On September 30, the first batch of kiwifruits from Zhejiang province worth 30,000 US dollars was approved by AQSIQ and shipped by refrigerated transport to Singapore. This was the first time kiwifruits from Quzhou, Zhejiang had been exported to a foreign market.

The Zhejiang kiwi plantation performance is regarded as exemplary. A cultivation area about 340 ha can produce 1.2 tones of kiwis. In 2016, annual output exceeded 500 million yuan. The price of kiwis, that were exported to Singapore, is 20% higher than the domestic market price. Such a profitable export should have a positive impact on the province's economy and local fruit farmers.
