A group of Japanese producers and entrepreneurs, who are currently touring several of the municipality's agricultural companies and handling facilities to learn about the area's production system, have visited the facilities of the University Analytical Centre (CUAM) in order to learn about the key services it provides to the sector and its contributions to research and the quality of the production.
The Andalusian Councillor for Agriculture and the Environment, Manuel Gómez Galera, who was in charge of receiving them, recalled that this visit "has been possible thanks to the work meeting held between the mayor of El Ejido, Francisco Góngora, and this delegation, headed by a representative of the Ministry of Agriculture, which already paid a visit a few months ago to learn first-hand about the province's agricultural model, including its advanced cultivation methods, the functioning of its marketing systems and the food safety of its products." He explains that this has made "our productive system synonymous with quality and sustainability."
The Councillor also stressed that "we continue to spearhead innovation with the introduction of the latest technological advances to the sector, which is allowing us to continue improving in terms of competitiveness and to remain leaders in the field of healthy, premium quality production." Moreover, he mentioned the important advances made in organic farming, as well as the high implementation of integrated pest management.
The official highlighted that "our agriculture stands out precisely for its innovation, sustainability and constant adaptation to the demands of national and international markets." In this regard, the council has recalled that the CUAM laboratory, which has a QS quality certification and can analyse up to 250 different active substances, carries out more than 8,000 analyses on crops alone. A noteworthy figure, which "is the result of our commitment to ensuring that our fruits and vegetables reach the tables of consumers with the maximum guarantees in terms of safety," he explained.
