Belarus: 36.5 tonnes of fruit and veg to be put in Minsk Stabilization Fund
About 36.5 thousand tonnes of fruits and vegetables are planned to be put into the stabilization fund in Minsk, as reported to BelTA by the main department of the consumer market of the Minsk City Executive Committee. This will include 15 thousand tonnes of potatoes, 3 thousand tons of beet, 5 thousand tonnes of carrots, 7 thousand tonnes of cabbage, 2.5 thousand tonnes of onions and 4 thousand tonnes of fruit.
Stabilization funds, intended for the storage of crops for their subsequent sale by trade organizations and public catering networks are created annually. The volume to be stored was determined by the Minsk City Executive Committee and is similar to that of the previous year.
All the necessary preparatory work has already been carried out: repairs, cleaning and disinfection of storage facilities, cleaning of air ducts and ventilation systems, repair and maintenance of electrical and loading and unloading equipment, etc. "The warehouses are prepared for the storage of this year's production," the main administration stressed.
The supply of crop products to the stabilization fund of Minsk is made by agricultural producers from all regions of the republic in accordance with the agreements signed. Those vegetables and fruits arrive with documents certifying their quality and safety.
The stabilization fund is ultimately intended to ensure uninterrupted trade in domestic agricultural crops on the territory of the capital during the off-season.
