Russia: Cabbage prices in Moscow down 53% in August

In August, food prices in Moscow declined by 2.16% compared to July, with the greatest drop being recorded by fruits and vegetables, as reported by the press service of the Department of Economic Policy and Development of Moscow.

In the last month of summer in the capital, there was a general decline in prices for goods and services compared to July, with prices in Moscow falling by 0.7%, noted the department. At the same time, prices in August in Moscow fell by 0.2 percentage points less than the average for Russia.

"The main contribution to the reduction of prices in Moscow was made by food products, which on average became 2.16% cheaper than in July. The maximum decrease in food prices corresponded to vegetables and fruits. White cabbage became 53% cheaper, potatoes fell by 35.2%, carrots by 29.1%, fresh tomatoes by 19.3% and bananas by 17.3%," the report says.
