Russia: Record harvest pushes fruit and veg prices down
Last week, Russian media reported on the success of the country's agricultural sector. According to the latest data, this year domestic producers have managed to achieve a record harvest, as a result of which, prices for fruits and vegetables are quickly going down.
As the newspaper "NewInform" reports, these record harvest figures have mainly been achieved in the Central region of the country, as well as in the south of Russia. Thanks to this, many Russian regions are seeing a significant decrease in the cost of fruits and vegetables.
Noteworthy is the fact that a great harvest of carrots and potatoes was obtained in Kabardino-Balkaria, as growers managed to avoid the impact of drought this year. This is the result of the introduction of technological advances, as for example, one of the farms on the territory of the region has a fully automated, state-of-the-art irrigation system that ensures a constant supply of water to the crops.
