In the first four months of 2017, the total volume of Kyrgyzstan's processed and canned fruits, vegetables and mushrooms reached 359 tonnes. For the last 5 years, the volume has been reduced by 1.3 times, according to figures from the National Statistics Committee.
In 2011, the production volume in this category amounted to 3 thousand 756.8 tonnes, and by 2016, this figure fell to 2 thousand 832.2 tonnes. In general, the dynamics of crop production in this category has showed mixed results in those 5 years.
With regard to the production of fruit and vegetable juices, it can be noted that, in the first 4 months of the year, the production volume amounted to 1 million 671.8 thousand litres, and for the last 5 years, the total has been reduced by 1.2 times, from 10 million 326.2 thousand litres in 2011 to 9 million 2.1 thousand litres in 2016.
When it comes to the volume of foreign trade in fruits and vegetables, it can be noted that, in the first six months of the year, the volume of exports of edible fruits and nuts amounted to 13.7 thousand tonnes worth 28 million 423 thousand dollars, which is 2.1 times more than in the first 6 months of 2015 in terms of volume and 2.6 times more in terms of value. Large volumes of fruits and vegetables are reportedly shipped from Kyrgyzstan to Turkey ($ 3.5 million), Kazakhstan ($ 11.9 million) and Uzbekistan ($ 1.4 million).
Fruit and vegetable imports also record increases. In the first six months of the year, the country imported 24.4 thousand tonnes of vegetables worth 13 million 403.6 thousand dollars, which is 27.1% more in terms of volume and 1.6 times more in terms of value, as well as 28.5 thousand tonnes of fruit worth 21 million 711.1 thousand dollars, which is 16.5% less in terms of volume.
