The geographical distribution of Spain's fresh fruit and vegetable exports, which in the first half of 2017 reached a value of 7,065 million Euro (a 6% increase), has experienced little to no changes.
The European Union continues to account for 93.8% of the exports. European non-EU countries maintained a 2.9% share of sales, slightly lower than in the first half of 2016, with a 4% growth, and the share of sales outside the European continent increased very slightly, from 3.20% to 3.30%, with a 9% growth. The performance of sales in these markets was very variable, still reaching very limited values. Sales in China (€ 20,688,285, +59%), Saudi Arabia (€ 24,792,329, +37%), Hong Kong (€ 6,061,888, +29%), Canada (€25,313,325 23%), Morocco (33,208,856 €, +26%), Singapore (4,455,242 €, +69%) increased, while declines were recorded in Brazil (28,610,554 €, -25%) and Algeria (€ 357,449, -97%).
For FEPEX, the development of sales outside Europe shows the need to strengthen the policies of diversification and opening up of new markets, in which the Commission is assuming a leading role.
