Flower Board at Asia Fruit Logistica

Exploring the potential of citrus exports to Asia

At the Asia Fruit Logistica, Flower Board is aiming to explore the potential in Asia for all their produce, including the Jaffa Orri. “We have sold out of all our Orri in Europe and North America this year. In Asia we would like to see if we can find potential business for this and other items as well. We hope to meet people during the fair, to see what the opportunities are for selling Orri in Asia,” Uzi Kouris from Flower Board explains.

“We are capable of exporting to China and the Far East, but we have to compare it to the situation in Europe. We’re quite strong in Europe, we sold 9,000 tonnes of Jaffa Orri there, at good prices. We would have to compare this to the Asian possibilities, but we’ll have to see what’ll happen during the Asia Fruit Logistica.” The company also wants to find out if they can sell red and white grapefruit to the Asian market. “It’s our first step in this part of the world.”

Flower Board’s main markets are Europe and North America (Canada and the East Coast of the US). “We also sell dates, avocados, red and white grapefruit, all kinds of clementines and mandarin oranges. We’re very strong in citrus. Additionally, we also sell a bit of celery to the Russian market.”
