Indonesia's trade deficit reached $270m in July
Indonesia posted a trade deficit of US$0.27 billion in July, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reports. Indonesia’s exports in July amounted to US$13.62 billion, whereas total import was US$13.89 billion.
“A slight deficit due to a large deficit in oil and gas of US$604 million, whereas non-oil and gas surplus was meager,” BPS head Suhariyanto said today.
Consumption goods import dropped by 3.15 percent to US$1.09 billion, including import of fruits, slipping to US$61.2 million and vegetables to US$96.1 million.
In terms of exports, agriculture made up 2.35 percent and increased by 19.79 percent (month-on-month) to US$0.32 billion.
The BPS said that trade surplus between January to July amounted to US$7.39 billion. Indonesia posted a US$1.63 billion trade surplus in June. The country’s total export in June was US$11.64 billion, whereas total import was US$10.01 billion. GHOIDA RAHMAH
