Italian grape season starts at Guido Fruit

"May and June were good months for stone fruit"

"For stone fruit, May and June have been very good months. The market situation has now worsened, mainly due to the holidays. Demand has decreased and prices have fallen. There is also increased production in Northern Spain," says Dirk Heerman from Guido Fruit in Brussels.

Annually, Guido Fruit generally imports about the same amount of cherries, nectarines and peaches from Spain. "We have had several stable seasons. We cannot complain about the cherry season. Peaches and nectarines also sold well in May and June. The lower production we are experiencing now is completely normal for this time of year."

The importer currently has a lot of grapes from Italy. "We primarily have Sicilian grapes and these are selling well. The quality is good and the season is off to a good start." Italian grapes are known to have a lot of pips. "Most of them still have pips, but we have seen an increase in volume of those without pips."
