A quarter of French consumers do not get their daily recommended fruit & veg

The consumption of fruit and vegetables is declining in France, and recent studies have found that only one in four people in the country are getting their daily recommended amount of fruit and vegetables. Thanks to its system of investigation on the Behavior and food consumption in France (CCAF), the Crédoc was able to analyze it.

The proportion of adults meeting their daily required amount fell to 25% in 2016. Consumers eating less than 3.5 servings per day account for more than one French person in two (54 %), while they were only 46% 7 years ago.

In children 3 to 17 years of age, the situation is even more alarming. Only 6% take their 5 servings a day, while 45% get less than 2 servings (compared to 32% in 2010).

The study of the Crédoc emphasised the disparities between the different social groups. Less than one in four (23%) of children of parents with at least three years of higher education got their daily recommended amount of fruit and veg.
