China: Big price differences for Guangxi dragon fruit

In the production area of dragon fruit in Guangxi Province, varieties including Jingdiyihao and Red Pitaya have entered the market this week. Affected by the rainy weather, the sales were going relatively slowly. The purchase prices in the original production areas are quite low in general, but vary greatly between different plantations.

For the Jingdiyihao variety, the purchase price of dragon fruits weighing over 0.8 kg is around 3.2 yuan from small plantations and 4.8 yuan from large plantations, which is a difference of 1.2 yuan (50%). What's more, the quotes from different large plantations are almost the same. Such huge price difference between small and large plantations is rare.

Faced with such varied purchase prices in the original production area, the buyers are frustrated. Large plantations have stable supply and provide quality dragon fruits for clients of all types, while small ones and individual growers have unstable supplies and fruits with varied quality.
