Iran to host international fruit exhibition in August

Iran's capital Tehran will host an international exhibition on the fruit industry in August, the Financial Tribune daily reported on Tuesday.

The First Specialized Fruit Industry Exhibition is scheduled for August 22 to 25 in Tehran's Olympic Hotel, according to an executive manager of the event.

"Iranian producers as well as representatives from Germany, the Netherlands, Russia, Turkey and Qatar will participate in the exhibition," Majid Haj-Mohammadi was quoted as saying.

"Four workshops on the role of banks, finance and insurance in the fruit industry, subsidiary industries and packaging, waste management and transportation, prices and the formation of production chains will also be held on the sidelines of the event," Haj-Mohammadi said.

Iran is one of the major fruit producers in the Middle East and North Africa. It produces and exports walnut, melon, tangerine, citrus fruits, dates, cherries, pomegranates, peach, oranges and raisins.
