Good supply in Queensland means lower veg prices this season

A good supply of vegetables means many household favourites are at reasonable prices in Queensland this season.

Those looking to get the most bang for their buck, should consider Asian vegetables, imported asparagus, beetroot, brussels sprouts, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, capsicum, carrot, celery, leeks, silverbeet, squash, zucchini, potatoes, sweet potatoes, pumpkin and onions which are considered cheap.

Avocados are also well priced with mainly the pebbly skinned hass variety on the shelves, with the best quality glamour ones commanding a slightly higher price tag. Tomatoes are abundant, and also reasonably priced.

All other salad items are reasonably priced, including mixed leaf salad, cucumbers, shallots and most herbs, with basil as the exception as it struggles growing in the cooler weather.
