Egypt: Ismailia’s agricultural exports worth over 228 million dollars so far in 2017
Dr Khalil Mubarak, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture in Ismailia, announced on Tuesday that the total volume of agricultural products exported to various Arab and foreign countries during the past six months, including vegetables, fruits, field crops, medicinal and aromatic plants, amounted to 2,280,146 tonnes worth 228 million 460 thousand dollars.
He added that the total value of these exports during the month of June alone amounted to 97,113 tonnes worth about 20 million dollars.
He pointed out that the total value of fresh and frozen vegetable exports in June reached 346,808 dollars, with a volume totalling 313 tonnes, and that the total value of the fresh and frozen fruits exported in the same period amounted to 17.5 million dollars, with 95,994 tonnes shipped. Also, the value of exported field crops amounted to more than 2.5 million dollars, with a volume of 805 tonnes.
He added that these goods have been exported to a number of foreign and Arab countries, including Sweden, Saudi Arabia, Slovenia, Lebanon, Libya, Kuwait, Italy and Romania, as stated by Dr Fathi Mahrous Abdullah, Director General of External Marketing at the Directorate of Agriculture of the Ismailia Governorate.
