Uzbekistan businesses will soon be able to export fruit & veg directly

From July 1 all business entities of Uzbekistan got the right to export fresh fruit and vegetable products, grapes and melons on the basis of direct contracts, under the terms of a 100 percent advance payment, reads the presidential decree published on the official website of the president.

Previously, only specialized foreign trade organizations were engaged in the export of fruit and vegetable products.

“The analysis of activities in the field of fruit and vegetable exports showed the presence of considerable unused potential and bureaucratic obstacles that hinder the large-scale participation of fruit and vegetable producers in export activities,” the official commentary to the decree said.

The abolition of a monopoly, along with the expansion of exports, is also designed to encourage dekhkan and farming enterprises to extend production of fruit and vegetable products in demand on foreign markets and increase crop yields through more efficient use of land resources, including through repeated crops.

The statistics show that more than 360 enterprises have been involved in export activities since the beginning of this year, more than 120 new types of goods have been exported. More than 230,000 tons of fruit and vegetables were exported.
