US tri-state adults not eating enough fruit & veg

A recent study shows that most tri-state area residents aren’t getting enough fruits and veggies.

The 2017 Community Health Status Survey (CHSS), funded by Interact for Health, found that only 23 percent of adults in the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky region eat the recommended daily amount of both fruits and vegetables. That number is up from 18 percent in 2013.

Southeastern Indiana counties reported similar numbers, with 20 percent reporting that they meet requirements for consuming both fruits and vegetables. In 2013, only 16 percent of SEI residents surveyed said they met requirements.

The most alarming statistic is the amount of tri-state area residents who don’t consume fruits and veggies daily. A whopping 42 percent said they don’t meet requirements for eating the healthy foods.
