Russia: Over 600 tonnes of fruit, veg and rice returned by Novosibirsk

The Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) prevented the entry of over 600 tonnes of fruit, berries, vegetables and rice to the Novosibirsk region, as reported by the press service of the entity. It is known that these batches had been shipped from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

Employees of the Rosselkhoznadzor found violations in the transport of quarantine products. The packaging of the goods lacked the necessary labels indicating the name and origin, and the vegetables and fruits had no valid documents.

Consequently, 184 tonnes of cherries, 92 tonnes of apricots, more than 5 tonnes of nectarines, 3 tonnes of apples, more than 12 tonnes of plums, 104 tonnes of watermelons and 20 tonnes of melons, as well as 183 tonnes of vegetables and half a tonne of rice, were not allowed into the region. The whole lot was returned to the senders.
