Many different trends are being adopted by the world's cuisines, but if there is one that stands out especially, is that of rescuing and promoting the traditional, the products that have always been part of Italian cuisine. "A few years ago, the market demanded new varieties of certain products, such as beans, so others were becoming a little forgotten," explains Giulio Campana, of Sipo; "however, in the last four years, we have seen a boom of the traditional that has made products such as flat beans return to supermarkets and the tables of Italian families.
Sipo was one of the first companies in the Romagna region to set out to recover products that had been "forgotten" and give them a new place in the market. With this goal, and thanks to a very good marketing campaign, they have created a Verdure di Romagna product line, which features a wide range of products from the area. "It is an area of Italy with a very special cuisine, thanks to its many great and unique products," explains Campana.
Sipo has existed since the 1950's as a family business and has always participated in both the production process and the transformation and distribution of the products. Consequently, the family's relationship with growers in the area has become extraordinarily strong; "a relationship that is characterised by mutual trust," states Sipo. Also, the company works with its producers and clients through contracts, which allows it to collaborate with producers from all over the country, thus guaranteeing market supply during the 12 months of the year.
