Scotland eats fruit & veg more regularly than rest of UK
Adults in some parts of the UK eat no fruit or veg. An “alarming” report reveals the vast majority of Brits are not getting their five-a-day.
Experts warn poor diet is fuelling diseases such as type 2 diabetes. Residents in the north east of England were among the worst, with 24 per cent admitting they normally go a day without eating any fruit or vegetables.
And in Wales the figure was 22 per cent. It compares to an average of 11 per cent across the UK. Two-thirds of Brits eat three or fewer portions of fruit and veg daily

The healthiest were London, the West Midlands and Scotland were only seven per cent admitted to days with no fresh fruit or veg.
The survey also found that over half of adults in Northern Ireland eat no more than three portions of fruit and vegetables a day - well below the recommended five portions. And 62% won't eat any fruit at least three days a week, a survey has found.
The poll of 2,000 adults found almost half fail to eat any fruit at all during three days of the week. Tam Fry, from the National Obesity Forum, said 19,000 more lives a year could be saved if all Brits ate their five-a-day.
