Price overview for Egyptian produce: Rise in garlic prices

The price of Egyptian garlic is on the rise. The price per kilo for garlic is currently EGP£15 (€0.75). Other prices for Egyptian produce have settled, with prices for tomatoes ranging from EGP£2.50 to EGP£4.50 (€0.12 to €0.22) per kilo.

A kilo of potatoes currently costs EGP£ 2.30 (€0.11), whereas courgettes are registered around EGP£3.25 (€0.16) and onions at EGP£2.30 (€0.11). Beans and mallow both cost EGP£3 (€0.15) per kilo, while taro costs EGP£6 (€0.30). Eggplants go for EGP£2 (€0.10) per kilo.

Peppers cost about EGP£3.50 (€0.17) per kilo, while Alcapucci lettuce costs EGP£2 (€0.10). Okra is registered at EGP£16 (€0.79) per kilo, whereas grape leaves range from anywhere between EGP£6 to EGP£10 (€0.30 to €0.49). Turkish eggplants are being sold for EGP£2 (€0.10).

American apples fetch prices of around EGP£15 (€0.74) per kilo. Limes are sold at EGP£15 as well. Guavas are sold at EGP£9 (€0.44), while Arishi peaches are sold at EGP£4.50 (€0.22). Oranges are being sold at EGP£4.30 (€0.21) per kilo, while both grapefruit and cantaloupes are being sold at EGP£5 (€0.25). Strawberries are registered at EGP£8 (€0.40).
