Leafy vegetables, soft fruit and bio
John says their main focus is leafy vegetables. "We are going also going to do more with citrus and soft fruit. We also see opportunities in bio-cultivation and have purchased extra untouched land to expand our farm. We have already gotten most of the necessary certification. We believe there is sufficient growth opportunities to be had."
In addition to the warehouse, Euro Gijbels have also invested in a new packaging and sorting machine. In this way, we can customise packaging for our customers and select the correct sizes for them."

As fresh as possible
The Spanish growers who supply Euro Gijbels Spain have, in total, an area of about 40 hectare. "We have a relationship with these producers. They know and trust us. I am, personally, often in the fields and have learnt a lot. Together, we ensure that we have the best quality products, harvested at the correct time. We can then deliver produce that is as fresh as possible to our customers. We have customers in Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Germany. Euro Gijbels Belgium is also one of our customers. We are two separate entities."
