J N Fox and Sons to bring sustainable bananas to the London Produce Show

After the success at the London Produce Show in 2016, J N Fox and Sons will return this year to show their continued sustainable sourcing strategy to import either Rainforest Alliance Certified or Fairtrade bananas.

Joining J N Fox and Sons again at the London Produce Show this year will be the General and Commercial Manager’s from EARTH University who are their long term suppliers of bananas from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms.

EARTH University is a private non-profit international university dedicated to education in Agricultural Sciences in order to contribute to sustainable development. It has 431 students and over 2,100 graduates from 39 countries. The University provides educational opportunities to young people who have leadership and agricultural potential, and social and environmental sensitivity.

“With the continued work we have achieved over the last year in supporting our growers “EARTH University” we are keen to take sustainable sourcing to the next level!” says Stephen Fox – Director at J N Fox and Sons UK Ltd.

“In addition to this, EARTH exported more than 1 million boxes of bananas in 2016 which is a remarkable milestone which we are proud to be part of and we look forward to supporting and working with EARTH on their further journey ahead” adds Fox.

Another part of J N Fox and Sons' sourcing strategy is to also purchase bananas carrying the FAIRTRADE Mark which have been produced by small farmer organisations or plantations that meet Fairtrade Standards. These Standards include protection of workers’ rights, the environment and payment of the Fairtrade Premium to invest in business or community projects like health and education.
