"In China, apricots are mainly produced in Shandong, Shanxi and Shaanxi. Compared to other seasonal fruits, apricots' characteristics are the fragrant and a sweet taste and the short sales period. Annually, the supply period only lasts for around three weeks," according to Mr. Liu Wei, general manager of Xiamen Xin Wei Hong Trading Co Ltd.

"Because the financial value of apricots is not very high, and the sales period is rather short, there are not a lot of farmers and companies who produce apricots. The supply on the market is mainly wild apricots. When there is no extreme weather, the production volume and market price are very stable."

"We use e-commerce to sell our Laoshan honey apricots, named Red Laoshan, also known as Red Mountain. The production season starts around 10 June. It is estimated that it will go on until the end of June. Because the products are difficult to store, we can only produce quality goods, which will be sold to the high-end consumers in the big cities."

"Customers who like apricots have different tastes and therefore different demands. When the Laoshan honey apricots are 80% ripe, the texture is rather crunchy, the skin is thin, and the taste is sour and sweet. When they are 90% ripe, the texture is soft, the fruit is very juicy, and the taste is sweet. When the apricots are completely ripe, the flesh is soft, and the taste is as sweet as honey. According to our customers' demands, we choose different stages of ripeness of our apricots."
