Rob Baan aims for a Dutch trial about healthy food taxation

"I hope the Tax Office fines me"

At Koppert Cress' 5,000 day celebration last year, Rob Baan gave a hint of their plans and now, in the video below, he is affirming his statement: "For some strange reason, someone thought is necessary to tax healthy food. I refuse to pay the authorities for healthy food and will not pay an employer surcharge. This fits with my policy to get people healthy".

At Bob & Rob, the restaurant he started with caterer, Bob Hutten, Baan provides a tasty, healthy meal according to the Dutch Cuisine-principle of 80% vegetables and 20% meat. "I am ensuring that people stay healthy. I am convinced that we are saving hundreds of millions in health costs here. Worldwide there are a hundred million people who are suffering from Type 2 Diabetes, which can be solved with healthy eating."

Rob hopes to take the authority to court. "with this, I want to speak up for health regulations. At present, every country taxes healthy food. Bad food should be minimally taxed, but a healthy meal should be tax-free. I really hope there is a test process!"
