The first day of the Macfrut was in Rimini, Italy, on 10 May. There was an additional hall compared to last year, but there appeared to be fewer visitors. According to exhibitors it was calmer, because another fair was held at the same as the Macfrut, Tuttofood in Milan. This is quite a broad food fair, but as of this year, it also has a fresh produce section. Besides, many people went to it, because Obama held a talk at the fair.

Macfrut 2017 is dedicated to the theme of strawberries. Dozens of strawberry varieties were presented in a special section, where visitors could admire the different varieties. Another pillar during this edition was organic fresh produce. Just like last year, people were surprised by various novelties upon entry.

It’s still a fair with mostly Italian exhibitors, but the number of international exhibitors increases annually. There were entries from 40 different countries. The atmosphere was positive, and the quality of the visitors was positively talked about in general. It’s expected that today, 11 May, will be more crowded at the Macfrut. But we’ll have to wait and see, because the weather in Rimini is beautiful.
