FAO offers $1.8m in agriculture technical support for Swaziland
The Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) has offered E25 million for direct agricultural technical support through the technical cooperation programme.
According to FAO Assistant Country representative Khanyisile Mabuza, FAO has also supported key national frameworks currently implemented by the ministry of agriculture. including the formulation of the Malkerns agriculture town planning scheme; improving nutrition and household food security using farmer field schools; the commercialisation of sweet potatoes, focusing on production and processing; and household climate-smart agriculture; plus market led fruits and vegetable production.
This was during the Lundzi market led, climate smart fruit and vegetable field day held last Friday.
Mabuza said the FAO had mobilised over E70 million in support of various programmes in the country benefiting over 30 000 farmers and other stakeholders.
