Germany: Tractor carrying 25 metric tonnes of apples falls in ditch

On Saturday morning a tractor with two tarpaulin trailers with 25 metric tonnes of apples got into an accident. The apples landed in the ditch. The person who caused the accident has fled.

As reported by the police, the 42-year-old tractor driver was driving on the "Moorende" road in Jork, towards Hove. The tractor was pulling two tarpaulin trailers which were carrying a total of 25 metric tonnes of apples. As the trailer approached a curve to the right in the road, a car appeared. Presumably the car was not driving far enough to the right, meaning that the tractor had to move further right. Here the trailers tipped into the ditch. The white car with the Hamburg registration number continued unhindered, without worrying about the damage it had caused.

The fire-brigades from Moorende, Estebrügge und Hove were fortunately able to secure the towing vehicle so it was not pulled into the ditch by the trailers. With the help of a recovery crane from Sittensen the trailers were eventually recovered.
