Almost ¾ of Dutch fruit and veg exports to Poland are re-exports

In 2016, the Netherlands exported 379 thousand tonnes of fruit and vegetables to Poland, according to Eurostat. This is about 1% less than in 2015, when the imports from the Netherlands amounted to 382.6 thousand tonnes, reports FAMMU/FAPA.

Of the 379 thousand tonnes, only 92.8 thousand were Dutch products, according to EU sources. The remaining over 286 thousand tonnes were actually re-exports.

Polish imports from the Netherlands were dominated by bananas, with 44.3 thousand tonnes, and onions, with almost 39 thousand tonnes. Moreover, there were also notable shipments of tomatoes (38.8 thousand tonnes), pears (almost 27 thousand tonnes), lemons (22.6 thousand tonnes), oranges (20,800 tonnes), grapes (18.5 thousand tonnes), carrots (18.3 thousand tonnes) and grapefruits and sweet peppers (slightly under 17 thousand tonnes).
